Church 101 ~ Partnership Preparation Class

church101insert

How can I get involved at OBCC? Or how can I become a memeber (we call them partners) at OBCC? A great place to start is "Our Church 101". We will discuss the following among other things: OBCC Vision, What We Believe, Ministry opportunities available, and why we become a partner. Class Leader: Pastor Les Potts

We Believe (CORE)

we believe

Authored by various Open Bible Pastors including Pastor Les Potts ~ Open Bible’s 12 lesson doctrinal study course for adults is based on Open Bible’s Articles of Faith and designed as a self-study manual or to be used in a classroom setting. WE BELIEVE was written to provide Open Bible Churches with a basic biblical and theological introduction that is distinctively Pentecostal and Open Bible in its orientation. For many it has been a bridge into INSTE and/or other more advanced Biblical and theological studies. Class Leaders: TBD (Book cost:$9.00)

The Biblical Festivals That Reveal Christ's Role in God's Plan

passover

From the Old Covenant to the New, Genesis to Revelation, God provides picture after picture of His entire plan for mankind and one of the most startling prophetic pictures is outlined for us in the Jewish Feasts of Leviticus 23. The Hebrew word for feasts (moedim) literally means "appointed times." God has carefully planned and orchestrated the timing and sequence of each of the feasts to reveal to us a special story. The seven annual feasts of Israel were spread over seven months of the Jewish calendar, at set times appointed by God. For both Jews and non-Jews who have placed their faith in Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, these special days demonstrate the work of redemption through God’s Son. What are these festivals, and what do they reveal about our Savior and King? (Class Leader ~ Charlotte Becker)

Just Like Jesus ~ Max Lucado

justlikejesus

"What if for 24 hours Jesus wakes up in your bed, walks in your shoes, lives in your house, assumes your schedule?... What if for one day Jesus lives your life with his heart? Within these opening lines lies the premise of Max Lucado's book about the possibility of becoming "just like Jesus." In recounting the biblical stories of Jesus' life and deeds, Lucado then explains how Jesus' acts of compassion, forgiveness, honesty, and faith can be reflected in anyone's everyday life. "Jesus had unbroken communion with his father," writes Lucado. "Do you suppose the Father desires the same for us? Absolutely ... God has the same abiding intimacy with you that he had with his son."

Concentric Circles of Concern ~ W. Oscar Thompson

CCC

In W. Oscar Thompson's classic book on evangelism, Thompson shows Christians how to spread the love and good news of Christ by building and repairing personal relationships. Too often the only kind of evangelism encouraged is the preaching to strangers, anonymous crowds, and foreign countries. This book hits readers where they live, teaching them that the most effective way to witness is through a simple plan of meeting the needs of close family first, then friends, and then all others.
