Romans 12:7

Here at OBCC
we are taught about living the D.R.E.A.M….
D –
represents developing our devotional life to
encourage growth in our direct relationship
with God. That is “devotional life”.
R –
represents developing our “one anothering” skills to broaden our
relationships within our sphere of influence
and our network of friends. That is
“relationships”.
E –
represents acknowledging the various ways we
can share our faith through personal
testimony, through lifestyle, and through
witnessing to the lost. That is
“evangelism”.
A –
represents discovering and emulating the
mindset of Christ, that of faith, humility
and service. That is “attitude”.
M –
represents the use of our God-given
giftedness to serve and edify others;
just as Christ ministered to all. That is
“ministry”. |
Adult Discipleship
The
Great Commission tells us to go forth and make
disciples. One of the most essential
ingredients in making disciples is Christian
education.
OBCC Adult
Discipleship Ministry purposes to assist people
to grow in their devotional life, relationship
with God and others, personal evangelism,
attitude of humility and service, and in
ministry (D.R.E.A.M.). We are passionate about
seeing people’s lives transformed through the
power of God’s Word so that they might think and
live like Jesus.
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as
Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built
up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were
taught, overflowing with thankfulness. See to
it that no one takes you captive through hollow
and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human
tradition and the basic principles of this world
rather than on Christ.” Col. 2:7-8 NIV
More than teaching,
discipleship is training that prepares, equips,
and enables people to live their lives as God
has intended, that is, to serve others and
enlarge the kingdom of God.
2 Timothy 2:15
says: “Present yourself to God as one approved,
a workman who does not need to be ashamed and
who correctly handles the Word of Truth.”
It is important
that we know how to “handle” the Word of Truth.
It is a life long learning process. The desire
to know the heart of God for your life is what
will give you strength when times are hard and
it is what will give you peace in the midst of a
confused world.
At Open Bible
Christian Center, we put a high premium on
discipleship. We begin by partnering with
parents in training their young children and we
continue to help them to grow through teenage,
adult and senior years. We believe you can
never come to a place where you “know enough”
about the Word of God. |
